| In an
attempt to re-establish hypoxic pulmonary vasoconstriction and to reduce
the pulmonary shunt fraction, you wish to administer almitrine intravenously. However,
your consultant reminds you that the effect of almitrine on pO2 in ARDS can
vary from deterioration to no effect to some improvement. Since not enough
is known about the usefulness of almitrine in ARDS you agree to hold it for now.
