some studies suggest a possible beneficial role for surfactant in ARDS,
you are unable to find clear data on which type of surfactant to use, the
exact timing of when to use it and the optimal mode of delivery. You call your pharmacy to get some anyway and are informed that it is considered experimental and is not currently commercially available for ARDS. (see
