After a litre of normal saline Mrs. M's vital signs improve, although she remains febrile. She is still nauseated, has vomited again and continues to complain of abdominal pain.

What do you do next?

  1. Send stools for culture, ova and parasites and white blood cell count
  2. Start her on broad-spectrum antibiotics
  3. Get results of her blood work
  4. Draw arterial blood gases
