Mrs. M gradually gets better. On day 16 in the ICU she gets extubated and the following day she is transferred to the surgical unit. You have done an excellent job managing a difficult case. Mrs. M is one of the lucky ones and as she wheels out of the ICU your pager goes off and your next case comes wheeling down the hallway......
